Ronnie O’Neal was sentenced to three life sentences, plus 60-years for the murder of his wife and daughter. The case is particularly sad, as Ronnie, who is clearly mentally unwell was allowed to represent himself in court. We can only assume that he watched at least 10 hours of daytime crime dramas to prepare for his day in court. But as soon as he opened his mouth in his initial arguments, you could tell a law degree would have served him better. Mr. O'Neal even had to cross-examine his own son, recounting the events of the night in question. And while asking his son questions, he asked, "Did I hurt you that night?" To which his son responded, "Yes, you stabbed me."

So yes, this video is a strange display of courtroom antics but it's also a much more depressing display of what constitutes "representation." Because it's pretty clear from the start that this guy should never have been allowed to play his own lawyer.
